古都に響くうねりの音色
平安時代以来、密教や禅宗が生まれ宗教都市として栄えてきた京都。
あまたある神社仏閣の周りに仏具店が点在する風景が日常となっている。
仏壇はもちろん、数珠や位牌、香炉と並んで仏事に欠かせない大切な物が「おりん」。
一説には、お釈迦様が亡くなった時「りん」という鳥が悲しんでいたことから、その「りん」の
鳴き声に似た音色を再現するために作られたのが、おりんだと言われているのだそう。
どこか物悲しくもあり、ありがたくもあるおりんの音色は、日本人であるアイデンティティを思い出させてくれる。
そんなおりんを作り続けて１８２年になる工房がある、東寺の南にある「りんよ工房」だ。

Since the Heian period, Kyoto has flourished as a religious city, where esoteric Buddhism and Zen Buddhism were born.
It is common to see Buddhist goods shops dotted around the many shrines and temples.
The "orin" is an essential item for Buddhist ceremonies, along with the Buddhist altar, rosary, memorial tablets, and incense burners.
One theory is that when Buddha passed away, a bird called "rin" was in mourning, and so the orin was created to reproduce a sound similar to the cry of the bird.
The sound of the orin, which is somewhat sad yet grateful, reminds us of our identity as Japanese.
Rinyo Kobo, located south of Toji Temple, is a workshop that has been making such orins for 182 years.
“营造敬畏之时：古都回荡的滚石之声”
京都自平安时代起就作为宗教城市而繁荣，是密宗和禅宗的发源地。
在众多神社和寺庙周围，随处可见佛龛商店。
“供具”与佛龛、念珠、牌位、香炉等一起，是佛教仪式的必备物品。
一派说法是，佛陀圆寂时，一只名叫“Rin”的鸟感到悲伤，所以取名为“Rin”。
据说，奥林达琴的创作目的是为了重现类似鸟叫的音调。
钟声，既悲伤又充满感激，是日本人身份的象征。
这让我想起了。
东寺南边有一家名为“铃铛工房”的作坊，制作这些钟已有 182 年的历史。
工程は１８０！理屈で割り切れない先人の教え
五代目の白井克明さんは幼い頃から先々代、先代に手ほどきを受け、自然と跡を継ぐものだと思っていたそうだ。
おりんを作る工程は実に１８０、鋳型作りに始まり、鋳造、ろくろ、研磨などすべての工程を担わないといけないおりん職人は、陶芸や挽き物など多くのスキルを身に着けないといけない。
その目的はただ一つ、「良い音を作る」ということ。
なぜ一度焼いた土で粘土を作るのか、なぜ黒味と呼ぶ炭を溶いた液で鋳型をコーティングするのか、問われてもわからないとしか言いようがないという。
しかし、それらの工程を経ないと確かに良い音にならないのだという。
「理屈を考えるより手を動かしていた方がええ」、なるほど、代々の経験に基づく製法には確かに理屈はいらない。
“There are 180 steps! The teachings of our predecessors cannot be explained by logic”
Fifth-generation Shirai Katsuaki was taught by his grandfather and grandfathers from a young age, and he naturally thought he would take over in their footsteps.
There are a total of 180 steps in making an orin, starting with making the mold, followed by casting, turning on the potter's wheel, and polishing. As an orin craftsman, you have to be responsible for all of these steps, so you have to master many skills, including pottery and turning.
Their only goal is to "make a good sound."
When asked why they make clay from clay that has been baked once, or why they coat the molds with a liquid made from dissolved charcoal called kuro, he can only say that he doesn't know.
However, he says that it is true that a good sound cannot be produced without going through these steps.
"It's better to keep using your hands than to think about theory," and indeed there is no need for theory when it comes to a manufacturing method based on the experience of generations.
“有180级台阶！我们祖先的教诲无法用逻辑来解释”
第五代店主白井克昭从小就受到前辈的教导，认为自己接手生意是理所当然的事。
制作青簪需要经过制模、浇铸、辘轳、抛光等180道工序。作为一名奥林工匠，你必须负责所有这些步骤，因此你必须掌握许多技能，包括陶艺和车削。
它只有一个目标：产生好的声音。
当被问及为什么他们用已经烧制过的粘土来制作粘土，或者为什么要用溶解木炭制成的液体（称为“kumo”）涂抹模具时，他们只能说他们不知道。
但据说如果不进行这些处理，声音就不会好。
“与其思考这件事，不如去工作。”确实，对于基于几代人经验的食谱来说，不需要逻辑。
家族の結束が作る灼熱の逸品
日頃は白井さんと息子である六代目の亮助さんの２人で作るおりんだが、月に２回だけ普段は別の仕事に就いている亮助さんの２人の弟が集まりする工程がある、おりん作りで一番大切な鋳造だ。
日頃から作りためておいた鋳型に、溶かした金属を流し込みおりんにするのだ。
鋳造だけは２人きりでは出来ない大掛かりな作業、家内制工業の出番と相成る。
りんよ工房でおりんに使う金属は代々、砂張と呼ぶ銅と錫の合金のみ。
鋳型を窯に入れて焼いている間に、コークスの熱で数千度まで熱された炉に銅と錫を放り込み、砂張を作る。
溶けた金属の色で鋳込む頃合いを判断するため、作業中は工房の中を真っ暗にする。
床にびっしりと敷き詰めた鋳型に砂張を慎重に流し込んでいく。
暗闇の中、導線を一歩でも間違うと灼熱の金属で大やけどを負う。
阿吽の呼吸は家族だからこそ、他人には任せられないのだろうなと、一糸乱れぬ動きを見ながら思った。
同じ窯で焼き、同じように鋳造したのに、出来上がったおりんの音色は一つずつ違う。
似たように見える家族でも、実は個性が違うのと同じだなと、澄んだ音色を聞きながら思った。
"A scorching masterpiece made by family unity"
Normally, Shirai and his son Ryosuke, the sixth generation craftsman, make the orins, but twice a month Ryosuke's two younger brothers, who usually have different jobs, get together for the most important step in making bells: casting.
Molten metal is poured into molds that have been made in advance to make the bells.
Casting is a major task that the two of them cannot do alone, and it is where the cottage industry comes into play.
For generations, the only metal used to make bells at the Rinyo Workshop is an alloy of copper and tin called sand-bari.
While the molds are being baked in the kiln, copper and tin are thrown into a furnace heated to several thousand degrees by the heat of coke to create sand-bari.
The workshop is kept completely dark while working, as the right time to cast the bells can be determined by the color of the molten metal.
The sand-bari is carefully poured into the molds that are densely packed on the floor.
In the darkness, even one wrong step on the wire would result in severe burns from the red-hot metal.
Watching their flawless movements, I thought that it was precisely because they are family that they work so perfectly together that they cannot be trusted with others.
Though they were fired in the same kiln and cast in the same way, each finished bell produces a different tone.
Listening to the clear tones, I thought that this is just like how family members who look similar actually have different personalities.
"家族团结打造的灼热杰作"
通常，白井和他的儿子良介（家族的第六代传人）一起制作大铃，但每月两次，良介的两个弟弟（他们通常从事不同的工作）会聚在一起进行铸造过程，这是制作大铃最重要的部分。
将熔融的金属倒入预先准备好的模具中，制成钟。
铸造是一项大规模的任务，仅靠两个人无法完成，因此需要家庭手工业。
几代以来，铃铛工房制作铃铛所用的唯一金属是铜和锡的合金，称为 sabari。
在窑炉中烘烤模具的同时，将铜和锡投入炉中，炉子被焦炭的热量加热到几千度，并在炉衬上铺上沙子。
工作时车间保持完全黑暗，因此可以通过熔融金属的颜色来确定铸造金属的时间。
将沙子小心地倒入密密麻麻地摆放在地板上的模具中。
在黑暗中，如果你沿着电线走错一步，你就会被炽热的金属严重烧伤。
看着他们完美同步的动作，我想，家人之间这种完美的和谐是别人无法做到的。
尽管它们是在同一个窑中烧制并以相同的方式铸造的，但每个成品钟都会发出不同的音调。
听着清脆的音乐，我心想，即使是外表相似的家人，其实性格也是不一样的。
